Using Microsoft Outlook Express with YKC
YKC customers can use any POP3 compatible program to receive their email messages. Netscape Communicator, Eudora and Microsoft Outlook Express are a few examples of email programs.
While all of the above programs are compatible with your YKC email account, it was necessary for us to select a single program that we could learn and provide customer support for. Since we are able to customize and distribute Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 on a CD-ROM for our customers, it made it very easy for us to choose Microsoft Outlook Express as the Email program to support. And, quite honestly, it is a very good email program.
It is important to mention that Microsoft has created several version of Outlook, including:
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Outlook Express
Microsoft Outlook 98
Microsoft Outlook 2000Microsoft Outlook - This version came packaged with Microsoft Office and Office '97. If you have "Outlook" installed on your computer, we recommend that you replace it with Outlook Express which offers more options and more features for processing Internet Email.
Microsoft Outlook Express - This is the version of the program these pages deal with and the version supported by YK Communications.
Microsoft Outlook 98 / 2000 - These are "enhanced" version of the Outlook program. While YK Communications does not support these programs directly, the information below will probably help you configure these versions as well.
If you have installed Internet Explorer from the "YKC IE-5.0" CD-ROM, you already have Outlook Express installed on your computer. If you are running a version of Internet Explorer earlier than 5.0, please visit the Microsoft Web site at http://www.microsoft.com or contact YK Communications for a current version.
